Lean is a management philosophy and practice that originated in Japan. Its basic idea is to remove vanities and unproductivity from operations and processes in order to achieve greater efficiency. The idea is to do the right things, at the right time, in the right place, in the right quantity and yet in the right quality. It is therefore about optimization - the continuous streamlining and improvement of processes - that can be used to achieve efficiency, productivity and value.
For Lean to be successful, you need to be able to monitor processes effectively and have information available at all times. Before digital solutions, it took a long time to collect and process data, and the enthusiasm of many companies leaned into this.
Ceriffi Check® supports continuous improvement and monitoring and participates in employee development. Findings of all kinds of losses and errors can be recorded in the Ceriffi Check so that they can be taken into account in improving the efficiency of production or work. When recording an observation, you can choose which stage of production or work the problem belongs to and provide a more detailed description as well as information about the problem or grievance. You can also e.g. add an image or other attachment and these will be saved in Ceriffi Check with the observation.
Six Sigma focuses on improving performance and reducing process variability. Six Sigma is often combined with Lean to talk about Lean Six Sigma. It’s about a set of methods and practices to improve processes: Lean thinking focuses on eliminating waste and minimizing Six Sigma variability.
The Six Sigma project will be implemented in the DMAIC phase. DMAIC describes the stages of a project and comes from the words Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control.

5S is a method of organizing the work environment. The main idea in 5S is to organize the workstation and work environment so that the goods, files and other tools needed for the work can be found easily and quickly. In other words, 5S is a development tool that excellently supports Lean thinking and is therefore one of Lean’s basic tools. In addition to supporting Lean, 5S is an in-house efficiency model. Excess files, materials, machines, and tools are removed from the office or production line so that they do not prevent flow during work. This also shortens production lead times, leading to more productive operations as the flow becomes faster.
6S covers the same things as 5S, however, in addition to cleanliness and order, safety (6S = Safety) has been taken for development and monitoring.
